Earthquake Report comment :
As this earthquake occurred at a depth of 283 km, in the mantle of the earth, a lot of people will not even felt it.
This is however one of the first earthquakes under the mainland of Honshu since the last several weeks. Most of the earthquakes are occurring in the coastal waters of the North Pacific Ocean at a lesser depth and these quakes can be felt regularly in Tokyo.
The nearest city in today’s earthquake was Nagoya, at a distance of 107 km from the epicenter.
The area around todays epicenter has regular deep earthquakes, but also shallow ones (see historic earthquakes map below)
