Earthquake Report comment :
After a period of relative calm, a strong aftershock struck the Chilean coastal area. The epicenter was located in the same greater area than the devastating Magnitude 8.8 earthquake from February 27.
GDACS has issued a GREEN earthquake alert for this earthquake = very limited chance on damage and/or injuries
NO tsunami bulletins have been published.
QuakeSOS, out iPhone app for quick communication, has not been used once (usually we receive immediatly signals after scary shaking).
Because the epicenter was at a relatively big distance in the Pacific Ocean,  the maximum expected shaking for approx. 36,000 people was a Mercalli IV (light shaking).
Although the Magnitude would have created more fear, we can describe this powerful aftershock as weak.
