Very powerful seaquake on the subduction zone and 157 km (97 miles) ENE (58°) from NUKU’ALOFA, Tonga.

Following data from USGS probably approx. 7,000 people will feel a Mercalli V shaking (moderate shaking)  and approx. 103,000 will experience a IV (light shaking).
People are used to earthquakes  (can somebody be used to earthquakes ?) which are even a lot bigger than this one.
If the epicenter location would be confirmed, the closest islands are Limu and Lifuka. Both islands make part of the Ha`apai Group in the centre of the country. Their distance to the epicenter is approx. 50 km.
Lifuka was the place where Captain James Cook dubbed Tonga “The Friendly Islands” and close to Lifuka off the island of Tofua is where the mutiny on the Bounty occurred in 1789. It has a population of 2,968 and an area of 11.42 km².
