M 7.1  27-08-1931    Pakistan Depth 35 km  – killing 200 people
This was the second earthquake within a span of two days to hit the same Balochistan region.
It was much stronger than the earthquake on August 25th. It was felt in much of Balochistan and Sindh.

M 6.0  27-08-1942    Albania Depth 33 km  – killing 43 people
The earthquake occurred at 6:14 AM in the morning and was a result of the striking movement of the plates in the the Vlora, Elbasani, Dibra fault zone.
The quake killed 43 people, a lot more were injured and there was vast devastation of houses and infrastructure.
The earthquake was felt in Dibra-Maqellara as VIII to IX on the Mercalli scale.

M 7.0  27-08-1977    Indonesia Depth 44.6 km  – killing 2 people
2 killed and 25 injured at Atauro – Timor.

M 6.3  27-08-1998    China Depth 28 km  – killing 3 people
At least 3 people killed, 7 injured, more than 3,600 houses destroyed, 18,771 damaged and 159 livestock killed in Jiashi County.

“In memory of” is highlighting deadly earthquakes of the past.
People have forgotten a lot of these human tragedies.
We @ Earthquake Report are hopeful that people in these countries and cities will learn from their history and will make sure that they are building Earthquake Proof houses and that they know what to do when the earth will be shaking again.
