Alaska – M 5.8 – Strong earthquake near unpopulated Amatignak Island in Alaska

Earthquake Report comment :
A strong earthquake struck in the early morning (local time) of the Andreanof volcanic island archipelago in the Bering Sea. Within a radius of 200 km of the epicenter we have no record of people living here permanently.
The same area has been hit by many similar earthquakes in the recent days and weeks.
The magnitude is such that a tsunami IS NOT EXPECTED. However, in coastal areas of intense shaking, locally generated tsunamis can be triggered by underwater landslides.
The maximum slope in the area of the earthquake is 53% and the maximum altitude is 1565 m.
