Indonesia– M 6.3 – Heavy earthquake in Molucca Sea

Earthquake Report comment :
Although this is a heavy earthquake, the depth (hypocenter) of 87 km km would soften the effects. The depth has afterwards been reacalculated as 43 km (more dangerous).
There are NO people living in an area of 100 km around the epicenter.
There are 1795278 people living within a radius of 200 km.
GDACS has issued a GREEN earthquake alert = probably NOT dangerous
NOAA issued a safe message for the Pacific, but is not excluding that such a Magnitude could trigger a limited rather small local tsunami.
First aftershocks happen minutes after the first heavy shock.
Earthquake has been felt as Light Shaking in Manado (177 km from the epicenter)
This area is rich with earthquakes, some of them very powerful.
